Gay horror game Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star comes to console
A dysfunctional and out-of-control relationship set in the black and reds of one of the most stylish visual novels around, Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star from developers Eyeguys, and Lorenzo Redaelli, arrives on console with a devilish splash.
Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star is a psychological horror game that looks at the terrifying idealization a person can have for someone they love, conveyed through the toxic and abusive relationship between protagonist Nuki and his boyfriend, Sune. Our review of the game described the visual novel as “visually stunning.”
This tale starts with Nuki, a young man who is idealistic and has “stars in his eyes”. He likes astronomy, which explains why stars and the galaxy play such a heavy part in this game, and he plays piano… But more importantly? He has an insatiable curiosity, one that leads him to following a meteor that falls into his city one day. Only this isn’t a star or meteor at all – it is instead a boy. Sune.
“There’s an instant chemistry between the two boys, and after maybe a couple of hours they are having sex in a bathroom.” Our review summarizes. “Milky Way Prince follows their brief, painful and dysfunctional relationship, complicated by the fact that Sune is a “vampire star,” an unstable astronomical object that could devour the protagonist.”
Through the push and pull relationship between humanity and stars, Milky Way Prince is able to authentically and symbolically portray a relationship that is both toxic, but addicting. The game also asks players to rely on their senses, particularly through the act of sex. Each sense is different, and each allows you to find out more about the relationship between Sune and Nuki.
Now that Milky Way Prince is available on PS5, the relationship between the two has further been advanced through the console’s controllers. As explained in the PlayStation Blog, the native PS5 version of the game uses controller speakers and haptic feedback in order to emulate vibrations and voice messages, with further use of haptic feedback to enhance the way Nuki’s emotions are conveyed through the scenes.
Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star is available to play now on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox One Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
