Get excited, there’s a video game Wordle now
Wordle took the world by storm when it was first released, quickly becoming so popular that the web-based word game has now gone on to become a daily staple of the New York Times. As its popularity grew, however, other games like Wordle began to pop up, with the most recent being focused around something we think you’ll like: video games. Yep, a video game focused Wordle.
High Score Day describes itself as the “Daily Videogames Guessing Game”, and asks the all-important question “how much do you know about video games?” As you’ll see from my own attempt at today’s latest game (pictured below), you’ll see that perhaps I don’t know too much at all. Oof.
How the game works is a little different from what you would expect. Instead of having to guess the 5-lettered word with 6 attempts like you do in Wordle, you’ll instead be presented with a screenshot of a video game. This video game could be literally anything, from the 1980s to a video game that was just released last week – there’s plenty of variety.
Once presented with the screenshot, you’ll have to guess the game by typing out what you think the game is. It sounds simple, but there’s a hidden depth to High Score Day, and that’s because you not only have to guess the right game but guess the platform too. For some instances, it truly won’t matter, but I have been bitten far too many times because I used the wrong platform, so be sure when typing in those answers of yours!
As of the time of writing this article, the video game Wordle spin-off seems to be pretty new. But it’s a fun activity to do each day and our only complaint is that it doesn’t actually tell you what video game you’ve got wrong.
