Code Coven teams up with Facebook Gaming to provide free coding program
Code Coven, a global award-winning game development accelerator for underrepresented talent within the games industry, is teaming up with Facebook Gaming in a partnership that looks to provide support and empower upcoming game developers.
This is the second year in a row the two have partnered together in order to offer novice game developers structured guidance, mentorship, and more importantly, financial support to help them create the games from their concept, right up until completion. All of this will be done via the Game Developer Program with Code Coven and Facebook Gaming.
The program is currently open for people to apply, and will run from the 13th of June to the 26th of August 2022. The course is focused on under-represented groups who want to learn more about code and coding, and thus aims to help by providing guidance from Code Coven, Facebook Gaming, as well as partners and mentors.
Participants of the Game Developer Program with Code Coven and Facebook Gaming will form teams of different disciplines and introduce the world to a new and interactive mobile experience.
Throughout the course, participants will:
- Empower and support four teams to build mobile games that they are proud of.
- Learn meaningful skills and strategies for game development with a focus on empathetic, ethical, and cooperative perspectives.
- Develop a toolbox of resources, community, and professional network.
- Develop know-how for navigating job applications, demoing, and speaking at conferences, starting their studios, or seeking funding for projects.
- Be inspired to continue to be leaders and/or dedicated to bettering their communities and workplaces.
