Snails are now hot thanks to Snails Story: Love Edition
If someone had told us that snails would be the next hot thing to want to date in romantic visual novels, we’d have been very skeptical. But not only have we been proven wrong by Snails Story: Love Edition, we’re actually pretty intrigued on what this new visual novel has to offer.
Developed by Squish Potato – a team that describes itself as loving both snails and potatoes, an odd combination to be sure – Snails Story: Love Edition really sells itself from its title alone. It’s a love story where you play as a snail, and you fall in love with other snails. Yeah!
If that’s pretty off-putting to you, then don’t fret – you don’t exactly look like a snail. In fact, all of the characters you meet look more like human/snail hybrids with a mostly human body, but a snail’s shell and antenna’s (attenae?) stuck on their head. So don’t worry, you won’t be smooching any slimy, snaily lips in this visual novel.
But don’t get it twisted, there will be plenty of romance in Snails Story: Love Edition. First off, you’ve got Jefe the Snailor – an adventurous and bold snailor who protagonist Ms. Escaragot has had a crush on for the longest time. There’s even word on the street that she’d do anything to stroke his lovely barnacles…
Then there’s Detective Bobby, a hard-working cop who keeps Shell Town safe from any bad coming the inhabitants way. He is fierce, strong and is weirdly passionate about basil. The perfect snail-man, or the perfect snail-man?
Of course, there’s also Sandy, the delightful barista snail who is shy, but eager to learn more about the protagonist. Speaking of, she’s also looking to find out more her missing brother Lucky, so if players see him, they should give her a call!
And then there’s Ms Escaragot herself, the main protagonist of Snails Story: Love Edition. She was brought up in foster care and wonders why she was born a snail… something which we are also wondering, to be honest.
