Queer icon Bayonetta returns next year in Bayonetta 3

This September’s Nintendo Direct might not have been the hit people were expecting at first, but that all changed as the last trailer revealed something very special: queer icon Bayonetta will be sashaying her way into chaos in Bayonetta 3, set to release sometime next year.

It’s been something of a joke among gamers that Bayonetta 3 will release at all, but this Nintendo Direct has laid that jab to rest with the very first look at our gorgeous heroine in a new game. Of course, Nintendo got a little cheeky at first by baiting viewers with an Astral Chain character, so the hype was certainly real when the Umbra Witch of our dreams appeared.

You can check out 3-4 minutes of Bayonetta 3 gameplay below.

It’s been 4 long years without any real news, and even now we’re still not certain what the third game will be about or whether characters like Jeanne will be making a reappearance. The gameplay didn’t reveal all that much either outside of some very cool-looking Kaiju battles… Well, that and the possible appearance of Vergil from Devil May Cry?

Either way, we’re still in the dark when it comes to what this game is about but that hasn’t stopped us from hollering out a victory cry all the same. Bayonetta is back baby, and we love to see it.
