Apex Legends Valkyrie confirmed as a lesbian character via interview

Valkyrie, the newest Legend to hit the popular battle royale Apex Legends, has been confirmed as a lesbian character via an interview with her voice actress, Erika Ishii and Respawn writer Tom Casiello.

Apex Legends is the biggest battle royale around, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be going away anytime soon. It’s got everything a queer gamer could want, actual LGBTQIA characters that interact with one another in a canonical way (eat your heart out, Overwatch), an incredible community, and it’s only going to get better.

For LGBTQIA fans, this is possibly the queerest season yet. For starters; you’ve got a pretty nice chemistry going on between Loba and Bangalore, something which has only become more obvious as seasons have passed, Fuse and Bloodhound seeming to get on very well, and now Valkyrie has been confirmed as a lesbian by both Tom Casiello and Erika Ishii in an interview with MoonLiteWolf.

What we love about this interview is that Casiello stated something that other game developers shouldn’t be afraid to say. Something to show support to the LGBTQIA+ community that is so apparent around this game and its cast of characters.

“If you have a problem with the fact that we’re launching with two black women, if you have a problem with the fact that we have a non-binary character, we don’t want you playing our game. Goodbye.”

As for Ishii, she recorded voice lines that depicted her character’s interest in women. Such as the ‘I like my women like I like my sake’ line, as well as her flirty dialogue with Loba, both in the Season 9 comic and in-game.

There’s a lot to love about this new season of Apex Legends, with Valkyrie being confirmed as a lesbian being just one of them.
