New Life is Strange game promises a new protagonist and new powers
DontNod has created compelling stories with complex protagonists, and even more complicated powers when it comes to Life is Strange. Players have had rewinding time with Max, whatever the hell is going on with Rachel Amber, and Daniel’s telekinetic abilities. We can’t help but wonder what else a new Life is Strange protagonist could get up to?
The answer to that lies in Square Enix’s presentation, set to air next week on March 18th, 10am PT / 5pm GMT.
An official post from Square Enix revealed that the next Life is Strange would be revealed during this presentation, alongside updates for games like Marvel’s Avengers, and that players should expect to meet a “new protagonist with a fascinating new power.”
The original Life is Strange followed Max Caulfield and her return to the sleepy town of Arcadia Bay, where she quickly gets caught up in a murder mystery alongside her best friend, Chloe Price. The sequel Life is Strange 2 followed brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz on the run from authorities after an accidental surge from Daniel’s telekinetic powers changes their lives forever.
Past Life is Strange games have often focused on more than just powers, however. Both Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before The Storm tackled some incredibly dark topics, such as kidnapping, murder, abuse, suicide and euthanasia and that’s not even touching on how Life is Strange 2 looked at systemic racism. As fun as powers are, the powerful stories are what has us so hyped for whatever DontNod has in store.
