Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers demo is out today!

Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers, the sequel to the fantastically queer and beautifully written game Arcade Spirits, is finally here. Well, it’s demo anyway.

The team over at Fiction Factory Games have been teasing Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers for a while now, and the reveal of a sequel was met with positive reactions from fans – particularly at the thought that maybe they’ll see some of their old favourites reappear too.

The premise of this new game has you playing as a gamer, but not just any ol’ gamer – a gamer that wants to go pro. Set in a world where arcade gaming never went out of fashion, you’re searching for the glory of winning the Fist of Discomfort 2 Pro Tour. To find a partner you join a group of other esport players who hang out at the GCF (Good Clean Fun), an arcade/laundromat/pizzeria. There’s a lot going on down there.

From then on out, you’ll get the chance to know your team, rally them around to victory, kick opponent butt and discover more about what it takes to win. All the while, you’ll learn about your fellow players dreams, why they’ve joined the team and more. You’ll also be able to romance them, with 6 different people to choose from. But don’t fret, you can decide to just remain friends with them all too and, unlike the prequel, you’ll be able to talk to everyone without ignoring the rest of the squad. If you so choose to, of course.

All in all, it sounds like a very exciting time and we’re stoked to see how the game will play out, and how it’ll link up with the original Arcade Spirits.

If you’re looking for a great time, then check out the demo yourself over on the game’s official Twitter account and/or website.
