We’ve talked about Mask of the Rose: A Fallen London Romance by Failbetter Games before, but now we can finally support the Sunless Skies creators where it matters – through the use of our hard-earned cash. That’s right, Mask of the Rose: A Fallen London Romance has just launched a campaign over on Kickstarter!
At the time of writing this, the campaign has already earned over 75% of what it needs to get the game funded, and with 29 days still to go? It seems like fans of the Fallen London setting – and games – will be rewarded for their loyalty with a Fallen London romance game they won’t soon forget!
But what is Mask of the Rose about? Well a lot of things, such as bats, love and the restructuring of society after an event that shook the city of London to its very core. But mostly it’s about noir, murder mystery and developing relationships with the people you meet. And we don’t just mean the romantic kind either, you can just be friends with people, people!
There are a number of people to meet and all are struggling with something after the descent of London and what it means for their lives. You’ll get the chance to talk to them, and either help them through their baggage, or cast them aside. No matter what you do, there is always a choice and consequence.
That said, Mask of the Rose isn’t just a romance game and you’re not going to be just sat there reading a ton of dialogue. As the Kickstarter states, “you’ll open new locations on the map, gather outfits and disguises, work odd jobs and collect resources. Together, this will determine what you can attempt in social situations – and how much you can get away with!”
Your wardrobe is an important feature in Mask of the Rose, as certain looks can help you in certain situations. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to look good, but playing a part in a mystery means you’ll need to understand what clothes you’ll need to slip on to get the best outcome.
There’s a lot to love about Mask of the Rose: A Fallen London Romance, so if you’re invested and want to support Failbetter Games – go ahead and do so with their Kickstarter!
