Gina Carano Fired From The Mandalorian and Star Wars

Local transphobe known as Gina Carano, whom fans of The Mandalorian will know as the badass Cara Dune, has been fired from not just her role in The Mandalorian, but from all Star Wars projects.

It isn’t all that surprising. Carano has been on thin ice since she first started acting out on social media – making fun of people’s pronouns and other anti-nonbinary statements that she insisted wasn’t mocking. That was back in September 2020, and the silence from LucasFilms at the time was deafening.

However now, despite several other incidents of Carano acting in ways that was far from professional, it seems that LucasFilms has had enough – with the final straw being Carano posting anti-semitic images on her Instagram account.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement to Polygon. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

It seems that transphobia, the denial of racism, and Gina Carano actively undermining the LGBTQIA community at every turn was ‘lesser’ enough for her not to be fired, but now the comparison of being a Republican means that she’s treated with as much disdain as Jewish people were during the Holocaust is the straw that broke the camel’s back. It is a questioning stance from LucasFilms, that’s for certain.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently in the works and while Cara Dune’s story was certainly being built up during the second season, we’re certain The Mandalorian will be just fine without her.
