Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been called out as being “horny” by developer

“They’re all horny, I can tell you that,” said Swen Vincke, the founder of Larian Studios, about the player base of Baldur’s Gate 3. We’re not all that surprised, the game is full of hot people, after all.

Speaking to IGN, Vincke revealed that they knew a lot of players had romanced Minthara – a drow woman who can only be accessed as a romance option if you decide to go the evil route. “There’s certainly people that have had no moral scruples,” Vincke said. But hey, they did say they wanted people to do the evil route! As for us, we’re not too fond of being evil, we just want to kiss all the hot men and women.

We’re not the only ones who struggle with being evil though, even the writing team have difficulty with it! “The writers have a tendency of being good and not putting in the evil options,” Vincke said. “We had to actually force them to go through everything and put in more contrasting options so that they could put the evil ones in there.”

With that said, it makes sense that Gale – possibly the nicest companion out of everyone you can recruit so far – is the character that’s been romanced the most. He doesn’t disapprove of going out of your way to help people, and isn’t a vampire spawn that wants to suck your blood every now and then. Sorry Lae’zel, Shadowheart, and Astarion.

But if you’re sick and tired of edgelords, then don’t worry. There are more companions coming. Vincke stated that “there’s been a group of people complaining about the fact that the companions are snarky and they have to have an opinion.” He continued, “but we’ve only put the ‘evil’ and the ‘neutral’ ones out there. We haven’t put any of the ‘good’ characters in yet, so I think that will balance that.”

We should remind players that ‘evil’ and ‘neutral’ are alignments that have become more and more dated as D&D has advanced – so that doesn’t necessarily mean others won’t have an opinion on what you’re doing.

We’re sure that, no matter who’s to come to Baldur’s Gate 3, players are going to be horny over them anyway. And after all, isn’t that what truly matters?
