New Final Fantasy XVI details emerge

The hype for Final Fantasy XVI is unreal and we’d be lying if we said that we weren’t chomping at the bit to find out more. Thankfully, information about the new Final Fantasy game has now appeared thanks to the game’s official website finally appearing online.

Speaking from a blog post on the PlayStation website, producer for Final Fantasy XVI,  Naoki Yoshida, spoke about what gamers could find out from the teaser website.

First of all, the adventures of Final Fantasy XVI will take place in the land of Valisthea – a beautiful, fantastical place that is surrounded by huge, glittering mountains that are covered in a crystal called Mothercrystals. These crystals help the people who use them thrive without trouble, but have been the cause of numerous wars and ongoing skirmishes between several different nations.

The nations that have rose from such turmoil are the Grand Duchy of Rosaria, the Holy Empire of Sanbreque, the Kingdom of Waloed, the Dhalmekian Republic, and the Iron Kingdom.

The protagonist of Final Fantasy XVI Clive Rosfield, alongside his brother Joshua Rosfield, hail from the Grand Duchy of Rosaria and are sons of the Archduke. Clive is our main protagonist, and a Shield that protects his younger brother, Joshua. They are joined by Jill Warrick, the ward of the Archduke that was raised alongside the two brothers.

One of the curious things about younger brother Joshua is his power as a Dominant – someone who can control the Eikons of the world. Eikons are summons, hence why players have recognized summons like Shiva and Ifrit back in the reveal trailer. With Joshua being in control of one, and Eikons being capable of flattening continents, we’re excited to know what else will be revealed as time goes by.

Yoshida stated that the next big announcement for Final Fantasy XVI would come in the year 2021. Until then, speculate away!
