Microsoft Store presents the Xbox Academy

Ever wanted to get into game design and development? Microsoft has your back, unveiling the Xbox Academy – a free, digital game development workshop that is designed to inspire the next generation of game developers and give them insight in game design.

Conducted in partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM), Games London and BAFTA award-winning Playground Games, the workshop will be guided by ELAM and will have students learning how to navigate the Unity interface, develop basic 3D level design, and leave the session with an understanding to start building a basic game within Unity. They’ll also get more of an understanding of the process of game development, including an overview of how the UK based Playground Games approaches game design for acclaimed titles like the Forza Horizon franchise.

The sessions will run from the 12th to the 13th of September, and participants must be 16 years or older in order to register. Participants will need to be able to join via their own PC and, ahead of each session, will be provided with instructions on how to get set up – such as downloading Unity and a 3D Game Kit.

Spaces are limited, so if you find yourself interested in getting to know more about game development, sign up for the Xbox Academy here and get started on your journey into becoming a game developer.
