Ubisoft pirate game, Skull & Bones has not been forgotten

While there was no appearance of the Ubisoft pirate game, Skull & Bones, at Ubisoft’s show last Sunday, it didn’t stop people from asking questions about it online. After all, the game was first announced back in 2017 as a pirate RPG game. It even had a female lead, something that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag couldn’t really say.

It’s 2020 now, and it’s obvious that the Skull & Bones game that we were shown won’t be releasing. Instead, we’ll be getting something a little different. According to a report from VGC, Skull & Bones has a new creative director in Elisabeth Pellen, and alongside a new director, has been transformed from a “premium box model” to a game that will involve a “live service structure.” Whether this means that, much like Epic’s Fortnite, Skull & Bones will be free to play, hasn’t been confirmed.

Speaking to VGC, an anonymous source stated that Fortnite did leave a big impression on Ubisoft and that, for Skull & Bones at least, the reboot would have a much “stronger focus on collaboration” between players. Similar to how in Splatoon 2, you would be put on a team, and with so many wins, you’d get recognition at the end of the month.

We’re unsure when we’ll get to see Skull & Bones in action, but that may be for the best. After all, Ubisoft are still dealing with their reorganization of the company due to a number of sexual misconduct allegations being put their way.
