Star Wars High Republic will be the big new story setting for Star Wars
The Skywalker Saga may have ended on a sour note for fans, but nobody can deny the impact the stories it has told has made on them. For the new Star Wars High Republic setting, we won’t be regaled with stories about how great the Jedi were, but actually see what made them so legendary in the first place.
The Star Wars High Republic Jedi will be a different sort of order from what we’ve seen in the Star Wars Skywalker Saga. As described in the announcement trailer for this new era, these Jedi have been described as “the Jedi Knights of the Round Table,” a clear Arthurian throwback. In this big, new era, the Jedi exist in a world that for the large part, is peaceful.
Currently, this new era seems to be mostly book and comic based. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll always be like that. As Eurogamer have pointed out, it has been speculated that this new era, 200 years before the Skywalker Saga, would kick off with a video game. However, as yesterday’s announcement made clear, there was no video game to be seen.
Fans of the comics and novels, however, are in for a real treat. Fan-favourite authors such as Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel José Older, Cavan Scott, and Charles Soule will be releasing novels and comics that’ll explore more about this new era and give us brand new heroes and villains to follow.
Events such as ‘The Great Disaster’ and enemies called ‘The Nile’ were referenced throughout the announcement trailer. Who and what they are we’re still not 100% sure of, but we’re certain more in-depth information will release in the coming months.
This new adventure truly begins in the month of August, where the first books and comics of this era will debut at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California. We don’t know about you folks, but we can’t wait.
