Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is a beautiful JRPG coming to the Nintendo Switch

We’ve all seen something that’s so beautifully designed that you just mutter ‘oh god, I hope it comes to Switch.’ For us, the newest game that has stolen our hearts is Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. Thankfully, we don’t have to beg for a port — it’s already coming to the Nintendo Switch this June.

Developed by Happinet, this tactical JRPG tells the story of the six factions of Runersia and the wars they wage upon one another. The reason for war? Because of conflicting ideals, histories, faiths and beliefs.

But what is Runersia? It is a continent created by the Rune God. In Runersia, mana rains down endlessly. Many years ago, five Mana Stones were brought forth by this continent and passes through history alongside human nations, eventually embedding into special Brigandine equipment to create Rune Knights – special individuals who can wield the mana power and stones embedded into their armor to cast skills and magic as well as summon and control ancient monsters.

The six factions you can choose from are the Norzaleo Kingdom, the Republic of Guimoule, the Shinobi Tribe, the Mana Seleesia Theocracy, the United Islands of Mirelva, and the Holy Gustava Empire. These factions all have memorable protagonists, and all are willing to sacrifice what’s necessary for their ideals. If you’re a fan of Fire Emblem, we have a feeling you’ll like Brigandine: Legend of Runersia, as well.

As you may have expected from a war game, there will be more than enough combat for those out there. Players will decide how their legend will unfold by selecting a country and creating their army of Rune Knights, exploring over 40 base locations and encountering over 100 unique knights and 50 types of monsters as they progress across Runersia.

You’ll be able to play Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia for yourself when it releases on the Nintendo Switch on June 25th. A limited, physical edition will also be available, but will be announced by Limited Run Games at a later date. Keep an eye on their Twitter to find out more.
