BanG Dream gets the Fire Emblem Three Houses treatment and I’m in love with it
If there’s something you should know about me, it’s that I have a real weakness for anime series. It doesn’t matter if its a TV show, a game or manga, I’m going to be all over it. BanG Dream has been a part of my life for many years now, though I’ve unfortunately fallen off the bandwagon and haven’t been keeping up with as much as I’d like to.
But I think I’ve found just the thing that will get back me into it. BanG Dream’s girls have had quite the makeover thanks to artist, Silent Shanin, who has reimagined the girls of Afterglow, Roselia and Pastel Palettes as members of the Fire Emblem Three Houses cast. Poppin’ Party have yet to be included, but Bandori’s main protagonist, Kasumi Toyama, will be joining the line up soon.
One of the best things about both Bandori and Fire Emblem Three Houses is the option of having more than just two or three female characters in the series. As a woman, it’s always nice to have the option to actually be able to have a choice on which female character you like the most. No wonder then that Three Houses and Bandori both have a huge, queer-women fan base.
The fact that queer women feel so passionate about both of these games does explain why they work so well together, and that’s not even addressing Silent Shanin’s excellent art and how it just fits these characters so well.
For example, Roselia’s Yukina Minato having unresolved feelings – romantic or otherwise, don’t kill me Edelgard and/or Dimitri fans – with Afterglow’s Ran Mitake? Come on, that just writes itself.
Alternatively, you have to think about how the Three Houses characters would handle being in bands. Black Eagles idol band? Uh, sign us up, please and thank you.
