Digimon Survive introduces Saki Kimijima, Floramon and new game mechanics
The recent Digimon video games have failed to grab my attention, but the upcoming release of Digimon Survive sure has my fingers itching to push some buttons! While fans of the series are eagerly awaiting an official street date, it is confirmed that the title will release on Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC before 2020 concludes. However, that doesn’t mean that Bandai Namco is keeping tight-lipped on everything, as the company recently premiered new information on the game’s central characters and a new feature they’re calling “Free Play.”
While the main character’s Digimon friend is simply classified as a plant-type Digimon that evolved from a reptile, much more information has hit the web about leading lady Saki Kimijima. Gematsu describes her as:
“A first-year middle school girl who participates in the extracurricular camp. She has a freewheeling and honest personality in that she clearly says whatever it is she wants to say. A girl who stresses her feelings for better or worse, her personality remains unchanged even when she wanders into another world, and saying exactly what is on her mind may lead to friction against others… She is unable to accept death as a reality, and believes everything is going to be alright.”
The game’s most invigorating aspect, known as “Free Action,” will take place while the central story isn’t progressing; whether that be interlaced with cut-scenes, overnight stays and save points. Players will be presented with two options – a training program that will level up your characters or a free roam feature that will allow you to walk around as you wish. Since Digimon Survive is described by ComicBook.com as “a strategy game meets role-playing game meets visual novel,” I think the “Free Action” feature is what’s going to make this title a hot seller.
OK, Digimon Survive, you’ve got me wondering. Let’s see how this turns out!
An animated feature film, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, will hit theaters across the globe March 2020. See the original DigiDestined and their cherished companions in a brand new adventure!
