5 surprisingly festive video games

I feel like we all have a handful of video games that we like to put aside for our ‘games to play during Christmas’. They don’t necessarily need to be festive video games either, as my favourite game to play during Christmas is actually Dragon Age: Origins.

But whatever you’re feeling like playing this Christmas, there are some just festive video games (meaning DLC) that we feel like you just can’t miss out on.

Here they are, 5 festive video game (DLCs) for you to play this holiday.

Yakuza 5

Yakuza 5 takes place several years after the end of Yakuza 4, where you take control of a group of characters – including Saejima, pictured above. As fans of the Yakuza series will know, you can get up to quite a few hijinks during your time playing.

In Yakuza 5, one of these things is dressing up as Santa Clause and beating up a gang of thugs. Why? Well, we won’t ruin the surprise, but trust us when we say that if you’ve got to play one surprisingly festive game, Yakuza 5 should be at the top of your list.

Hitman Christmas DLC

There’s nothing quite like Christmas, is there? The festivities are always loud, fun and everyone gets helplessly drunk. Which probably makes killing people a lot easier for the resident hitman, Agent 47. Of course, it also gives you the opportunity to get more creative. If there’s one way I had to go, death by Christmas tree doesn’t sound too bad.

Oh, you can also kill Santa. So, uh, happy holidays!

Clayfighter Sculptor’s Cut

Thanks to a good friend of mine, I now know what Clayfighter is. I also now know that Santa is thicc as hell in this game, and can bash your brains in with a candy cane while wearing a very revealing thong. He then shows off his, uhm, presents, when he wins the match.

He even has some very interesting lines like ‘Santa’s going to sit on YOUR lap’ and ‘the cane brings the pain’. It’s hilarious to watch if you have no idea what you’re going into.

In fact, just go take a look at this video. You won’t be sorry.

Borderlands 2: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day

Borderlands just loves to do things that other games aren’t doing, and this Christmas DLC is no exception. In this DLC, players were rewarded with a few festive skins, as well as a short, Christmas story that ended with an explosive boss fight with a gigantic snowman.

It may not be as festive as what you’re looking for, but hey, it’s a damn good game with some damn good DLC.

Saints Row 4: How The Saints Save Christmas

Now this is my favourite Christmas DLC for a video game. Saints Row is incredibly underrated as it is, but this DLC just takes the cake. The premise is that Boss (you) and the rest of the Gang are celebrating Christmas, when Cyborg Shaundi (the future version of one of your companions) comes to warn you about an evil: Santa Clawz.

Confused? Yeah, that’s exactly how anyone would react if they hadn’t played Saints Row before. Just, trust me when I say that it’s the best Christmas DLC around.
