Sindel finally joins Mortal Kombat 11
Ever since her first appearance in Mortal Kombat 3 and the somewhat disastrous 1997 live-action movie, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Sindel has been at the top of my “favorite characters” list. As a gay man, it could be because of the purple costume or sassy attitude of her use of hair as a tactical weapon. Oh, and let me not forget the sonic scream that closely resembles my own energy when I don’t get my way with take-out choices. Whatever the case may be, I was sad to see that Sindel hadn’t been used as a playable character since the Mortal Kombat reboot in 2011.
Well, that’s changed! Sindel has officially joined Mortal Kombat 11 as the next playable character downloadable in the upcoming event on 26 November 2019. If you’re a Kombat Pack owner, you’re going to get early access to the beloved queen just before Thanksgiving. You can find her introduction and game-play trailer just below…and I love that they’ve allowed her aesthetic to age with dignity, grace and power. Long live The Queen!
MarySue describes Sindel as: “The former Queen of Edenia and mother to Princess Kitana, Sindel was forced to betray her people and marry Shao Kahn when the evil Outworld emperor conquered her realm. Now as the Queen of Outworld, she relentlessly fights to keep her claim on the throne and remain in power. With flowing grey hair and a regal attitude befitting her role, Sindel possesses an array of mystical abilities, allowing her to levitate and manipulate sonic waves.”
Welcome back, Sindel. It’s about damn time!
