Read Only Memories franchise gets a new comic series
LGBT inclusive 2064: Read Only Memories let players embrace a new, exciting world when it came out. Now it’s available to purchase on a number of different consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. It’s a game that has queer love, AI and a nightlife that’ll leave you feeling more than a little envious.
Well, now the video game has been taken a step further as MidBoss have decided to team up with IDW Publishing to release a comic series based around the world that you explored so deeply within the video game.
The very first comic of this four-issue series will be releasing on December 18th, this year. In this series, readers will be following private investigator Lexi Rivers, whose case doesn’t seem as clean-cut as simply tracking down a robot’s lost human lover. Solving this mystery will require everything at her disposal, from busting gangs of sentient AIs to flirting with lovely ladies tending bar.
IDW Publishing taking the lead behind this new comic series is a huge deal, as they’ve been behind the publication of well-known licensed properties such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as well-loved indies such as Locke & Key.
More importantly, the lead writer for Read Only Memories is industry veteran Sina Grace, known for his work depicting LGBT+ characters in comics including Marvel’s Iceman as well as calling for better queer representation in the medium. To say that Read Only Memories is in good hands is possibly the understatement of the year.
The first issue will be out next month. Will you be adding it to your comic collection? To find out more, check out the official website.
