The best selling video games of September 2019 are…

September was a battle for dominance as three releases battled to become #1. NBA 2K20, Borderlands 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening were always going to debut at the top of the chart; even though I’m surprised Link’s Awakening missed the top 3! However, the series has one of the biggest staying powers in video game history, so I don’t think this is any indication that sales are lackluster.

According to VentureBeat and IGN, these were the ten best selling video games of September 2019:

1. NBA 2K20
2. Borderlands 3
3. FIFA 20
4. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
5. Madden NFL 20
6. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
7. Gears 5^
8. Code Vein
9. NHL 20
10. Mario Kart 8

VentureBeat also reports that video game sales are still on a decline since 2018. The website states that, while the medium made $1,278,000,000 this September, that was a -8% decline compared to September 2018. This, unfortunately, seems to be the trend in 2019 so far. While video games seem to be more popular than ever, it’s weird to see a downward trend in units sold.
