Our Top 10 Multiplayer Games

No matter who you are, you’ll at least have one multiplayer game available in your games collection. You may not have officially played it yet, but it’s there. Multiplayer games, after all, are one of the most effective ways to communicate with others around the world. For that reason, as well as many others, multiplayer games are hard not to love.

Though like most things, some games have a way of standing out in a way that others can’t.

So, here are our top ten multiplayer games.

Overwatch

top ten multiplayer games

What kind of list would this be without even mentioning Overwatch? Overwatch is a group-based, FPS (first-person shooter) where you pick one of over 30+ characters and battle it out to either get the payload delivered or take the checkpoint from the enemy team.

Overwatch also has a huge eSport presence thanks to Overwatch League, so if you’re not whether you want to commit yourself to the game just yet, then check out how the pros play it.

Overcooked 2

Sometimes you don’t actually want to shoot at people. Sometimes, the preference for you is to just to serve piping, hot meals and hope beyond hope that you won’t crack under the pressure.

Of course, you may not have friends after you finished playing this, and you may have made several enemies online but it’s all good fun to throw a tomato across the room towards the pan and watch in dismay, as it falls into the bin.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends only came out this year, but it’s managed to dominate the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere with its incredible characters, and fun multiplayer. Like Overwatch, it’s an FPS, battle-royale that puts you with two other people to form a group.

Unlike Overwatch, the goal is simple: kill everyone until you and your group are the Apex Champions. Sound simple? It’s anything but.

Fortnite

Fortnite has been the cause of controversy by simply existing, but it’s also one of the biggest, if not the biggest, video game in the world right now. It’s collaborated with giants such as Marvel and DC, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

It also has Ninja, who is a celebrity in his own right. If you’ve not heard of Fortnite, then you’ll have at least heard of him.

Rocket League

Rocket League is like football if football was fun, and you played in cars instead.

So, as you might expect, there’s a lot more bumping into each other and not falling around the pitch, wailing that your leg is broken. Instead, it’s smacking into one another, falling onto your front and then zooming after the ball as fast as your tires will allow it.

It’s great fun, and both you, your friends and the people online will have some cherished memories playing it.

League of Legends

The daddy of all things multiplayer, League of Legends has been around since 2009 and has had an eSport following that would cause even the Overwatch League to pale in comparison.

In League, players will play in a top-down arena and must their abilities to destroy the enemy and their main tower. It’s fun, a little addictive but something that’ll definitely appeal to you and your friends if you like smacking the crap outta people and living to tell the tale.

Minecraft

Minecraft may be the most boring game alive to you, or it’s the game that allows you to be as creative as you like. With that in mind, it’s entirely up to your friend group on whether this would be the game for you.

All we can say is build (your house), destroy (your friend’s house), it doesn’t matter, as long as you’re all having fun.

Borderlands 3

top ten multiplayer games

Borderlands 3 has only just come out, but that doesn’t mean we don’t bloody well love it. It’s got some of the best gunplay around, and we don’t just mean shooting at people.

It’s a game where friendships are made stronger by just how many people you’ve managed to shoot and if that isn’t beautiful, we don’t know what is.

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 went through it’s fair rough patches during development, but since then Bungie has picked up the slack and have made a game that is not only the best around, but is a superb way to spend time shooting your shot with friends.

It also has some of the best storytelling we’ve ever seen, so if you want a great story to experience with your friends then we can’t recommend Destiny 2 more.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is the most relaxing game that you’ll be able to play multiplayer in with your friends. It’s farming-simulator where you can fight monsters, plant vegetables, and flowers, and even make your own house. Well, if you have the money.

What makes Stardew Valley so much more exciting is that you can do all that and more alongside your friends too.
