Stranger Things 3 Has A Tie-In Video Game
I finally threw in the towel on Tuesday and signed up for Netflix. One of the first shows added to my list? Stranger Things. It’s one of the most talked about titles on Netflix, but did you know the creators released a video game to coincide with the launch of season three?
Stranger Things has always been a hit with the queer community, especially after its showrunner and producers became so vocal in their support of the weird, the quirky, the misunderstood, and most importantly – the gays. One of the shows characters’, Will Byers, described his sexuality as “open for interpretation” before taking a step back and telling Vulture he’s “just not ready to grow up.” However, season three of the horror series finally delivered a clear queer representative with Robin (Maya Hawke), and that’s all I’m going to say to avoid spoilers.
Developed and published by BonusXP to coincide with the season three release of Stranger Things, a video game hit Android, iOS, Windows, Macintosh, Steam, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and XBox One on 4 July 2019. If you’re a casual fan of the show or a gaymer who wants to support your other favorite form of media, then Stranger Things 3: The Game is your opportunity to dive into familiar landscapes with the characters you know and love.
“Play through the events of Season 3 and much more! Play as your favorite characters from the series as you complete quests for the citizens of Hawkins and explore the town while the events of Season 3 unfold around you. Just like in the show, teamwork is at the heart of Stranger Things 3: The Game. Fans can team up in two player local co-op to explore the world of Hawkins, solve puzzles, and battle the emerging evils of The Upside Down as one of twelve beloved characters from the show.” – Steam
Stranger Things 3: The Game is currently on sale for $19.99. A previous game is still available in smart phone app stores.
