Stardew Valley dev gives a sneak peek of 1.6 update
On Wednesday, ConcernedApe posted a sneak peek of the new update for Stardew Valley, version 1.6, which is currently in development and will release at some point in the future, though no date has been announced yet.
Stardew Valley 1.6 will be the first update to the game since 2020, when the 1.5 version launched. Stardew Valley first released back in 2016, and has had tons of content additions since then, making it a much longer-lived indie, single-player experience than many folks probably expected.
This new update is bringing several features to the game, which we’ve listed below:
Stardew Valley 1.6 features
- A new major festival
- Two new mini festivals
- New late-game content that expands on each skill area
- New items and crafting recipes
- Alternate Joja versions of some of the end-game quests
- Over 100 new lines of dialogue
- Winter outfits for villagers
- New reward type for completing billboard quests
- Support for 8-player multiplayer on PC
- New farm type
- New secrets
- Small quality of life adjustments
ConcernedApe previously announced that he would be pausing work on his other announced game project, Haunted Chocolatier, to focus on developing the 1.6 update. It seems he’s getting closer to finishing the 1.6 update, thanks to the posted sneak-peek, but it will probably still be a while before ConcernedApe is ready to return to Haunted Chocolatier development.
It’s unclear when Stardew Valley version 1.6 will go live for players, but it’s something for fans to look forward to.
