Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection launches today
On Tuesday, Square Enix released the Life is Strange: Arcadia Bay Collection on the Nintendo Switch. This collection includes remastered versions of both Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm, which are now on a portable console for the first time. Fans can pick the collection up for $39.99/£34.99.
In the original Life is Strange, players take on the role of Max Caufield, a high school student with a penchant for photography who has just moved back to her hometown of Arcadia Bay. Here, she’s reunited with her childhood best friend, Chloe, who seems fated to die. Max manifests strange, time-bending powers that she uses to try to save Chloe and get to the bottom of the weirdness around town involving Chloe’s missing best friend Rachel Amber.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to the first game, starring Chloe instead of Max. It fleshes out her relationship with Rachel Amber before Max returned to Arcadia Bay, giving context to a relationship that was so central to the first game, despite half of it being missing from the entire story. We see how these girls came to be so close, and why it was so impactful for Chloe when Rachel disappeared.
Both games in the Life is Strange: Arcadia Bay Collection are fully remastered and optimized for the Nintendo Switch. The original Life is Strange Remastered also has improved character animations with full facial motion capture.
