Dead by Daylight to get new LGBT+ Pride Charm in the future
Dead by Daylight have stated previously that they are committed to supporting their LGBT+ community, and it seems that they’ll be doing that sometime soon if this news about their Pride Charm coming in the future is anything to go off on.
This news comes from Paulie Esther, a member of the Fog Whisperer programme that Dead by Daylight runs to help support their content creators. Esther has often shared speculative videos about what players and dataminers have found in the files of Dead by Daylight, as well as unboxing goodies sent in. He is an esteemed, respected member of the community.
In the video that revealed the new Dead by Daylight LGBT+ Pride Charm, Esther talked about dataminers finding charms – little trinkets that can be hung on a Killer’s hook, or a Survivor’s charm belt – that was not part of The Rift. These charms were the Pride Charm, as well as the Gnome Chomsky charm from Left 4 Dead, with the latter charm possibly being part of an event in the future. Maybe even Dead by Daylight’s 5th-anniversary event.
As we’ve said, Dead by Daylight has shown promise in regards to implementing queer content into its game. There are a number of different Tomes that could reveal one of the Survivors as queer, and if these Pride Charms are anything to go off on, other Pride cosmetics could possibly be on the way too. It’d certainly be something that we’d be rocking every Survivor match.
Of course, this new Pride charm has also concerned LGBT+ players, too. Esther addresses this concern in his video, stating that he has heard that some fans have said that they’ll be ‘tunneling’ (only attacking them, instead of attacking the other 3 survivors) anyone who wears the Pride Charm in their Dead by Daylight match.
“I think that’s pretty sad, honestly.” Esther said. “So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to wear the charm all the time. I think inclusiveness is important and if we all show our solidarity with the LGBT+ community, wear the Pride Flag… They can’t camp and tunnel us all.”
As of now, it has not been confirmed when these Pride Charms will be added to Dead by Daylight. However, we’d have to guess it’d be somewhere around June time. We will confirm a date via this article when we’re given one.
