Kiss boys and fight to survive in 18+ visual novel NIGHT/SHADE: You’re The Drug

The year of 2021 looks promising for queer video games, particularly coming from indie studios like KingAsphy. Known for making LGBT+ indie games from a variety of different genres, their new project is NIGHT/SHADE: You’re The Drug – an intense thriller visual novel set in the futuristic city of Sobene.

In NIGHT/SHADE, you play as spunky protagonist Sasha who has become comfortable in his life of drug dealing and taking indulgence after indulgence. He hates change, which explains why he has yet to confess his love for his best friend, Mishka.

However, all things must come to an end when change is involved and, after a night of relaxation, Sasha comes home to something that’ll change his life forever.

NIGHT/SHADE is, ultimately, a visual novel “about overcoming the toxicity within interpersonal relationships as well as within oneself.” It’s also about the complexities of love, loss, and the space in between and how the main character Sasha handles being stuck in the middle of two warring crime syndicates.

The visual novel is also rated 18+ and is only for adult viewing due to having explicit sexual content, as well as depictions of drug use, blood, murder, and abusive relationships. If that’s not your thing, we suggest looking elsewhere!

NIGHT/SHADE is currently on Kickstarter, asking for support which, if granted, will mean the game will come out in late 2021. At the time of writing, the game is at 55% funded, so you’ve got time to show your support for this thrilling visual novel!

If you still aren’t sure whether the game is for you, head on over to the game’s demo over on itch.io, or read my review of the demo to see if NIGHT/SHADE is the sexy, thriller game that you hope it is.
