New RPG from The Messenger devs now on Kickstarter

Sea of Stars is the new title from Sabotage Studios, the Canadian devs behind indie hit The Messenger, due out in 2022 and you can support it now on Kickstarter.

The retro-inspired turn-based RPG is set in the same universe (acting as a prequel) and follows the story of two Children of the Solstice who combine the powers of sun and moon in their quest to defeat an evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.

And just like The Messenger, the team are modernising their nostalgic take on the genre in terms of its combat, storytelling, explorations and interactions with the environment. In particular, traversal includes elements of platforming and breaks the usual tile-based structure.

What’s most striking, though, is the art style that combines gorgeous pixel art with full dynamic lighting that really brings this world alive.

The Kickstarter has already trounced its original goal, with 29 days left to go. You can support the project here.
