Final Fantasy VII Remake physical copies may be delayed due to coronavirus

We’re eagerly awaiting the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake having replayed the demo countless times already. But if you were planning on ordering a physical copy for release day, you may not be in luck.

In a statement on Twitter, it was announced that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing unforeseen changes in distribution and retail. In short, your physical copy may not arrive in time for release day.

“We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and working with our partners, retailers and SQUARE ENIX teams across Europe and the Americas, to do everything we can to ensure as many of you as possible can play the game on April 10,” the statement says.

So yes, the game is still slated for release on April 10th. And if you’ve already ordered a digital copy, you’ll be fine. But if you were hoping for an actual disc and a sexy Cloud Strife statue, it’s looking unlikely.

The news comes after Amazon stated they would only be accepting shipments of household and medical supplies into their warehouses. Video games, sadly, are considered non-essential (for some anyway).

Square Enix will be updating us on March 20th with further news.
