No Monkey Business in Upcoming Powerpuff Girls Mobile Game
The Powerpuff Girls was one of the staple shows on Cartoon Network that launched the fledgling channel into the animated giant that it is today. It originally ran from 1998 to 2005, and proved to be such a hit with audiences around the world that it returned with a rebooted concept in 2016.
Despite the critical acclaim and cult fandom, The Powerpuff Girls haven’t seen a proper video game adaption for a console since 2007 with Nintendo DS’ Game de Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z, a Japan exclusive release; although a series of PC titles were released in the 2010’s, ending with The Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville in 2014. While it’s technically not considered a console, a new game featuring Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup and Bliss (who?) will debut on your smartphone later this year.
Confirmed and announced by Kongregate, Cartoon Network and Juicy Beast, The Powerpuff Girls: Monkey Mania will be available for download on Android and iOS sometime in 2019.
A synopsis provided by Animation Magazine reads: “Mojo Jojo is up to no good again, this time harnessing his wicked Chemical-Xtractor to steal The Powerpuff Girls’ powers and use them to generate a massive army of evil gummy monkeys. Despite losing their powers, The Powerpuff Girls must fight back against this new gummy menace in addition to the villains that are now wreaking havoc in Townsville.”
As of right now, the only other information available in regards to this upcoming title is its classification as a launcher game and two promotional images. Both images are included just below.
